Huntsville colt in SA sale

World Champion Huntsville was the leading first season sire at the Aust Pacing Gold Melbourne sale last week

.

Six lots averaged an impressive $32,167. If you missed out on a ‘Huntsville’ don’t panic, renowned breeders Peter and Lesley Medhurst have a lovely colt in the Silver Salver South Australian Yearling Sale to be held at Globe Derby Park on Sunday March 14.

The colt is the first live foal of the Bettors Delight mare Dazzling Delight, who is the daughter of Medhurst’s Blue Hen mare Roses In Paris.

Roses In Paris is the the dam of 12 winners from 13 foals, including Thorninmyside who took the Southern Cross Final as a 2, 3 and 4 year-old along with the SA Oaks.

Roses In Paris is also the dam of King Grin the 2yo Southern Cross winner who also claimed the Golden Nursery.

Close up in this family is Jax Navaro 19 wins, Petes Elect 21 wins, Oceans Predator 14 wins and Purple Royale 26 wins.

Huntsville, the 2yo Breeders Crown Champion, also took the Meadowlands and Cane Pace. As a 3yo he stood just one season down under and has just 132 live foals, now yearlings.

Catalogue out now

 The catalogue for the 2021 edition of the Silver Salver SA Yeraling Sale – available from Globe Derby HRSA & Garrards Melton.

A quality lineup of 28 lots has been confirmed by local and interstate vendors with the catalogue showcasing stock of Australia’s most sought after stallions including Sweet Lou, Sportswriter, Well Said, A Rocknroll Dance, Roll With Joe, Betterthancheddar, He’s Watching, Sunshine Beach, Shadow Play, Grinfromeartoear, Auckland Reactor and For A Reason.

Emerging, young sires such as Downbytheseaside, Betting Line, Huntsville, Lennytheshark, Goodtime Sammy and Major Secret are also represented. 

The sale will be held at the Globe Derby Park on Sunday, March 14, starting at 12 noon with the Hygain Yearling Parade followed by the sale.

Gary Newton, the Silver Salver Sale co-ordinator, said: “We are really excited that the leading local breeders have supported the sale with strong numbers.  It’s very exciting to see so many first season sires represented.”

The Silver Salver Sale and race series will see two Group races one for colts & geldings and one for fillies held in 2022 with only those entering the ring and those yearlings made available by non sale entries eligible to compete.
